2008 CORBELLO NERO D'AVOLA
Grape
Varieties: |
Nero D'Avola 100% |
 |
| Background: |
The Curatolo family has been producing excellent
Marsala and creditable wine for over a century. Since the 1999 vintage, Albert Antonini
has acted as a consultant to the Curatolos and brought with him the modern winemaking
skills that allow the varieties to express their maximum potential. |
Vineyard
Location: |
Produced from selected grapes grown in two different
vineyards, one near Marsala and the other in central Sicily. The grapes from the former
region, normally an area regarded as being cool for Nero d'Avola, have given vibrancy and
an aromatic dimension to the wine, while the latter, a hotter, drier zone, provides the
color, weight and structure. |
| Winemaking: |
Antonini carefully chose the fruit and used both
refrigeration and inert gas to preserve and protect the flavors that had accumulated under
the hot Sicillan sun. Oak aged for 3 months. |
